FAQ

Do I need prior finance experience?

No. We look for students who are genuinely interested in finance. Following the markets is helpful, but many members begin with no background, and our workshops are designed for them.

Do I have to apply to join the general body?

No. There is no application. Attend three BIG events in a semester and you become a general body member.

Who can attend BIG events?

All students in the Columbia community, including Barnard, Columbia College, SEAS, and GS, are welcome at our events and in the general body.

Who can apply to the executive board?

The executive board is open to both Barnard and Columbia students. Applications open each September, and underclassmen are strongly encouraged to apply.

How do I hear about upcoming events?

The weekly newsletter is the best way. All events are also posted on Instagram.
